Laser Removal FAQ

What is laser tattoo removal?

Laser tattoo removal uses targeted light energy to break down the ink particles in your tattoo. Your body then gradually flushes these particles out through natural processes. Over time, the tattoo fades or can be fully removed depending on your goals.

Does it hurt?

Most people describe the sensation as similar to a snapping elastic band or short bursts of heat. It’s usually very quick, and we’ll do everything we can to keep you comfortable throughout the session. Numbing options and aftercare guidance are always available.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions varies from person to person and depends on factors like:

  • Ink colour(s)

  • Age of the tattoo

  • Depth of the ink

  • Your skin type

  • Your body’s natural healing rate

Most clients need between 6–12 sessions, spaced several weeks apart, but some tattoos may fade sooner, and others may require more time.

Can you remove all colours?

Some colours fade more easily than others. Black and dark inks typically respond the fastest. Greens, blues, reds, and lighter pigments may require additional sessions, but modern laser technology is designed to target a wide range of colours effectively.

Is laser removal safe?

Yes. When performed by trained professionals using medical-grade equipment, laser tattoo removal is a safe and effective procedure. Your skin will be assessed before treatment, and we’ll talk through what to expect to make sure you feel confident and informed.

What should I expect after my session?

After treatment, the area might feel warm or tender,  similar to a mild sunburn. Some redness, swelling, or slight frosting is completely normal. We’ll provide full aftercare instructions to help you heal comfortably and reduce the risk of irritation.

What should I avoid after my session?

To protect your skin, avoid:

  • Sun exposure

  • Heat (saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs)

  • Swimming

  • Picking or scratching the treated area

  • Heavy exercise for the first 24–48 hours

Keeping the area clean, cool, and protected helps your body heal quickly.

Can you fade a tattoo instead of removing it completely?

Absolutely. Many clients choose a few sessions to lighten an existing tattoo so it can be covered with a new design. We can discuss your goals and tailor your treatment plan accordingly.

Can everyone have laser removal?

Most people can, but there are some conditions where treatment may not be suitable,  including pregnancy, certain medical conditions, or active skin infections. We’ll always carry out a consultation to ensure it’s safe for you.

How long should I wait between sessions?

Your skin needs time to heal and for your body to process the broken down ink. Sessions are usually spaced 8 weeks apart depending on your skin’s response.

How much does it cost?

Pricing varies depending on the size and complexity of the tattoo. We offer transparent pricing and can give you a personalised quote during your consultation. Our minimum charge is £80.

Can I book a consultation?

Of course! Consultations are relaxed, pressure-free, and designed to give you the information you need. We’ll look at your tattoo, answer your questions, and give you honest expectations before you commit to anything.
